THE PERSON BEHIND THE WORK

Nearly three decades in the trade. Still hands-on.

Eric began as an HVAC apprentice in Luoyang, China. Two years beside an experienced technician, Mr. Chen, taught him installation, fault-finding, and a habit he still relies on today: understand the whole system before replacing a part. By his third year, Eric was taking on work independently.

He arrived in the United States in 2022, returned to the trade he knew best, and spent the next two years installing and repairing systems in New York. In 2025, he started his own heating and cooling business: HomeGuard HVAC & Boiler.

THE METHOD

Every machine leaves clues. You just have to know how to read them.

“Leave it with me. I’ll get to the bottom of it.”

Diagnose before recommending. Explain before repairing. Test the system before leaving.

STORIES FROM THE WORK

The moments that define a technician.

Not testimonials. Real jobs Eric still remembers—and the decisions that mattered after he arrived.

11:00 PM → 4:30 AM

The heat was back before morning.

During a December snowstorm, an oil-fired heating system failed in a home with children and an older family member inside. Eric drove out, traced the problem to the burner and its controls, explained the situation, and worked until the heat returned. What stayed with him was not the late hour. It was watching the room warm up—and the family relax.

16-year-old boiler

The boiler was running. The job still wasn’t finished.

After replacing a failed wall-hung boiler, Eric’s final system check revealed a frozen water line and the risk of a burst pipe. He and his teammate stayed to restore flow, refill the system and confirm that heat was circulating normally before they left.

9 systems · 2 technicians · 3 days

A difficult building, planned before the first cut.

A complicated property layout made access and line routing unusually difficult. Eric planned the sequence, coordinated the work and completed the nine-system mini-split installation with one teammate. The speed came from planning—not shortcuts.

Does 24/7 mean immediate arrival?

It means service requests are accepted at any time. Eric confirms the actual visit window after reviewing the request and his schedule.

Some issues can be estimated from a clear description and photos. Others require an on-site diagnostic visit before the repair scope and price can be confirmed.

What should I photograph?

From a safe distance, photograph the equipment exterior, model plate, visible error code and problem area. Do not open panels or touch electrical, gas, refrigerant or hot components.

Is the repair covered?

Eligible repaired work includes a one-year limited workmanship warranty. The written estimate or invoice states the exact coverage and exclusions.
